This in-home motherhood session with Brittany & Seattle is one that I walked away from feeling all the warm and fuzzy feelings surrounding what it means to be a mom, what it looks like to intentionally connect with our children, and how it can look to build a home that provides the perfect setting for creating memories out of family rhythms.
For this session, we started off spending time in Seattle’s room where she and her mom played with her dollhouse and read some books in her cozy reading chair. We eventually drifted back to the kitchen where a fresh loaf of homemade sourdough sat cooling on the kitchen counter. Knowing this was probably something pretty routine in their week, I asked Brittany if she was fine with cutting into the loaf for a little mother/daughter snack time. I stood by admiring and capturing how Brittany thoughtfully includes Seattle in the simple tasks of cutting bread and spreading butter and honey before sitting down together to enjoy a delicious afternoon snack.
If anything, this session is proof that a motherhood session – or an in-home session – doesn’t have to be anything extravagant or out of the ordinary. These are moments that Brittany and Seattle share day-in and day-out and I know that one day, these images will speak to the days that they both look back on and admire with fondness.
