This session was just. so. FUN. The Wietfeldt family is officially the largest immediate family I’ve had the honor of photographing and now I basically want all the big families to come my way and book a session!
With five girls and two boys, it was so special to watch the dynamic between older kids and younger kids, as well as between mom and dad with each of the kids.
I knew right away when planning for this session with Jenna (mom) that this family would be one full of love & joy – and after spending an hour with them exploring outside on a beautiful Autumn evening, they are just that.
We started the session off with a game of telephone to get the kids laughing and smiling and pretty quickly transitioned to letting the kids run and roam the trails – they are outdoor kids through and through. I loved watching them raise down the grass pathways, stopping to pick odd and end flowers and plant pods along the way.
I really leaned into letting the kids lead during the session – after all, it can be a bit challenging to “orchestrate” the pace of the session when there are seven kids roaming around the whole time 😉 That being said, it was easy to hone in on the specific dynamics of connection for this family – with each other and with nature. I simply provided ideas along the way and let the magic happen.
